Sean and Arthrogryposis

AMC will work with me, not against me

Updates, a quick way to find out what is going on, at a glance.

Week of October 20, 2008

Sean is trying to walk again!!!!! He is up on his feet, leaning up against the couch, and taking steps!

Sean is also letting go for about 2 seconds, and standing on his own!!!! WOW!

Trying knee walking again!!

It got a bit chilly (for FLorida that means under 70) so Mom took out her boots, and Sean decided to put them on and sing "These Boots were made for walking"!!!!  I think it is a GREAT Song for this time of his life!

 Weekend of November 15, 2008

On Friday mom and I went out and we found some sneakers that I can wear over my AFO's!!!  this is my first official pair of shoes.  Never before have I had shoes that I can wear while I have my AFO's on.  We were both very excited.  That night, I wanted to take them to bed!

Saturday was picture day with mommy, Ryan and Breanna.  They came out really "cute".  I like that word.  Sunday mom got some video of me standing up, against a potted plant that I had already killed, and trying to walk over to the door to open it.  It should be uploaded to the video section sometime this week. I am starting to get more daring, and I actually let go for a few seconds a time.

Probably the hardest update I have had to write.

Sean fell and landed on his forehead.  AMC has robbed Sean of the ability to stretch out his arms and legs when he falls.  We all have this ability, and we do it to soften our fall, and prevent injury to our head and face.  Sean does not have this.  He fell from about 3 feet and landed on his forehead.  We watched him for about 4 hours, and he appeared to be fine, except for the BIG gooseegg on his forehead.  When I went to put him to bed 4 hours later, he immediately started to throw up.  We took him to the closest emergency room, and he was transferred to the the Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital (local children's hospital) via ambulance, after a CT scan showed he had a 1.5 cm blood clot caused by the fall.

By the time we got to Arnold Palmer, the blood clot had grown to 3.5 cm.  The neurosurgeon, suggested we operate immediately, to prevent further damage. Sean is tough lil man, and he pulled thru the surgery.  Another CT scan, showed that the bleeding had stopped.  It was a close call for a few days, with fevers and some very hard moments.

Saturday November 29, 2008 Sean came home!!!!!  I will add some more details later, since right now Sean is sitting on my lap, and this is hard to do

Friday February 6, 2009

Sean is doing great!  His head has healed, and he has finally stopped picking at his scab.  He actually also got his first haircut after the surgery, and it looks like we may have to get creative with haircutting.

Also, the best part  of all.........Sean has started to walk on his own, and now he has a reversible walker to help him out.

(I have tried to upload a picture a few times, I will try again at a later date.  There are problems with the server)

 Monday March 9, 2009.

SEAN IS WALKING ON HIS OWN, HE CAN TAKE MORE THAN 20 STEPS WITHOUT HAVING TO STOP FOR A BREAK!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR PRAYERS, SUPPORT, ETC.

May 2009

Sean has mastered walking.  He can't walk very far, but he can walk with his shoes and AFO's and also barefoot!!!!!  He knows this is a huge accomplishment for him, and is just thrilled!
